At Ray of Sunshine Child Care Center, we strive to create a holistic learning environment that fosters the development of children in all areas.
Our curriculum
We maintain a low educator-to-child ratio of 1:6 to provide individualized attention and ensure children’s safety and well-being and allow our educators to focus on the specific needs of each child to provide quality care and guidance.
Our dedicated team of educators, supportive programs, and inclusive practices work together to provide a nurturing and enriching experience for every child.
Emotional development
We understand the importance of emotional development in young children. Our program focuses on promoting self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation through various activities such as storytelling, puppetry, role-playing, and expressive arts. We create a supportive environment where children can develop healthy relationships, build confidence, and express their feelings in a positive manner.
Delivering
Through storytelling, we use age-appropriate books and puppets to help children identify and understand different emotions. We encourage them to express their feelings and discuss strategies for managing emotions.
Teaching
We facilitate group discussions where children can share their experiences and feelings, fostering empathy and understanding. We also incorporate calming techniques such as deep breathing and mindfulness exercises to help children regulate their emotions.
Social development
We believe in fostering strong social skills in children. Our program encourages cooperation, sharing, and respectful communication through group activities, games, and collaborative projects. We provide ample opportunities for children to interact with their peers and develop friendships, promoting a sense of belonging and inclusivity.
Delivering
We organize group activities such as collaborative art projects, building blocks, or pretend play scenarios to encourage cooperation, sharing, and turn-taking. Children are encouraged to work together, communicate, and solve problems as a team.
Teaching
We facilitate discussions on kindness, empathy, and respect for others. We use positive reinforcement to acknowledge and encourage positive social interactions, helping children develop strong social skills and build friendships.
Physical development
Physical activity is essential for the overall development of children. At Ray of Sunshine Child Care Center, we offer a range of age-appropriate physical activities and play opportunities to enhance gross and fine motor skills. These activities include outdoor play, movement games, dance, yoga, and sports. We provide a safe and stimulating environment for children to explore and develop their physical abilities.
Delivering
Outdoor play is an important part of our program, where children can engage in activities like running, climbing, jumping, and playing with balls or bicycles. We also provide age-appropriate equipment and toys that promote fine motor skills, such as puzzles, threading beads, and building blocks.
Teaching
Our educators demonstrate proper body movements and encourage children to practice various motor skills. We incorporate activities like dance, yoga, and stretching exercises to develop coordination, balance, and body awareness.
Intellectual development
We are committed to fostering intellectual growth in children. Our program incorporates age-appropriate learning activities that stimulate curiosity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking. We provide a variety of engaging materials, educational toys, books, and puzzles to encourage exploration, creativity, and cognitive development. Our educators facilitate hands-on experiences and promote a love for learning.
Delivering
We provide a stimulating learning environment with a variety of educational materials and activities. For example, we set up science exploration stations where children can observe and experiment with different objects and materials.
Teaching
Our educators engage children in open-ended discussions, encourage questioning, and promote critical thinking. We offer age-appropriate challenges and puzzles that encourage problem-solving and logical reasoning skills.
Language development
Language skills are fundamental to effective communication. We provide a language-rich environment where children are exposed to a variety of spoken and written language experiences. Our program includes storytelling, circle time, conversations, rhymes, songs, and language-based games to promote vocabulary development, listening skills, and early literacy.
Delivering
We create a language-rich environment by reading books aloud, singing songs, reciting rhymes, and engaging in conversations during circle time and group activities. We also provide a print-rich classroom with labels, signs, and age-appropriate reading materials.
Teaching
Our educators model correct language usage, introduce new vocabulary words, and encourage children to communicate their thoughts and ideas. We provide opportunities for storytelling, dramatic play, and show-and-tell sessions to enhance language development.
Support for children requiring extra assistance
We are dedicated to supporting children with diverse needs. As per the Child Care Licensing Regulation section 44, our program of activities is designed to accommodate and adapt to individual requirements.
We work closely with families, caregivers, and professionals to create personalized plans that address specific challenges and promote inclusive participation. Our educators receive training on inclusive practices and utilize appropriate strategies, resources, and support networks to ensure the best possible care for each child.
